Buckwheat is an erect-growing annual plant with broad heart-shaped leaves. It establishes very quickly, has low heat requirements for development, and will produce crop in 80-90 days. Buckwheat grows vegetatively and flowers until killed by frost. Buckwheat has been primarily used for humans and livestock, as a honey crop, smother crop, and for green manure.
