Austrian Winter Peas are a cool-season legume typically used as a forage for wildlife or short-term cover crop. These have slow winter-growth, then are quick to grow in the spring as they prefer cool, moist growing conditions. Austrian Winter Peas require fertile, well-drained soils. They are low-growing, viney legumes with a long growing season and are able to fix up to 200 lbs of nitrogen per acre. Austrian Winter Peas are also water thrifty and have good winter hardiness when seeded in the fall.
